A a mechanic and a cabinet maker I was taught that most thing work together as a system. When diagnosing a problem or designing something new the system includes function, space, reliability, safety, appearance and cost or value. Often I find even new items we purchase are missing an essential piece of the puzzle, this is where my wife cannot understand why I modify almost everything we buy, because I believe most items can be improved upon.
